Is it poetic because it's vague? Then again, I'll take it at face value, "you" implies everyone. I hope you left them some witty retort in the form of a question. Of course, when I say you, I'm also implying everyone. You can speak for us, can't you?
I suspect an e.e. cummings fan wrote it -- no capital letters, and that DADA DAH DAH rhythm.
It's the exclamation point that throws me....
